David A. Miley

Your Humble Grand Webmaster (or your grand, but nevertheless humble, webmaster)

Companion David A. Miley was born in 1968 at Evanston, and was reared initially in Chicago and Buffalo Grove and, later, in Amherst, New Hampshire. His service in both the active and reserve components of the U.S. Army took him throughout the United States and Germany, before he was put out to pasture in the Retired Reserve. In his free time, he likes to put clothes on his cats, take the poor creatures for walks on leashes and attempt to teach them to say, “Hello,” on command.

Our grand webmaster was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on 1 May 2004 in Isaac Cutter Lodge No. 1073, A.F.&A.M. of Illinois, at Chicago (now at Evanston), over whom he presided as Worshipful Master from 5 May 2008 through 4 May 2009, and whom he served as chaplain from then until the lodge's 1 February 2010 merger into Chicago Lodge No. 437.

He was advanced to Mark Master on 16 March 2005 and exalted as a Royal Arch Mason on 7 April 2005, both in La Fayette (then temporarily known as N. Tracy Walker) Chapter No. 2 in Chicago, where he currently serves as King and webmaster. From 10 April through 28 July 2006, he held a vacancy appointment as Excellent Grand Master of the Third Veil of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of the State of Illinois. He has held the post of Grand Webmaster since 28 July 2006. He serves as Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Saskatchewan, a member of the Jurisprudence Committee, and chairman of the Public Relations Committee.

Companion Miley was greeted as a Select Master in Chicago Council No. 4, Cryptic Masons of Illinois, on 11 June 2005 and received the degree of Super Excellent Master the same day. He currently serves Chicago Council No. 4 as Illustrious Deputy Master and webmaster.

He was dubbed and created a Knight of the Order of the Temple on 27 January 2007, as the Annual Inspection candidate of Saint Bernard Commandery No. 35, Knights Templar of the State of Illinois, of Chicago, where he presided as Eminent Commander from 22 June 2010 until 28 June 2011, and continues to serve as webmaster. He is also webmaster of Albertus Magnus Commandery of Research No. 92. He received the Illinois Order of Past Commander when initiated into the Illinois Knights Templar Past Commanders Association on 31 July 2010.

Dave was installed into the degree of Knight of the East and West in Saint Bridget Council No. 23, Knight Masons of the U.S.A., in Chicago on 14 October 2005. He assumed the position of Saint Bridget Council’s webmaster in September 2006, and was elected and installed as Priest on 10 December 2010. He was created a Knight of York in Illinois York Rite College No. 15 on 28 January 2010 and serves as the college's webmaster.

Our Grand Webmaster was created a 32° Scottish Rite Freemason and Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret in the Valley of Chicago, A.A.S.R., on 1 May 2004, where he has held the offices of Tyler and Captain of the Guard, both in van Rensselaer Lodge of Perfection.

Companion Miley was inducted into Peoria's General John J. Pershing Order No. 24, Order of the Sword of Bunker Hill, on 16 April 2011, at a ceremonial in Batavia. On the same day in Batavia, he was created a Tall Cedar in Central Illinois Forest No. 208 (then UD), Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America, becoming a charter member of this forest. He was admitted into the Enchanted Realm and made a Veiled Prophet in El Jaala Grotto, M.O.V.P.E.R., of Des Plaines, on 30 April 2005 at a ceremonial in Evanston.

Dave was created a Noble of the Mystic Shrine by Medinah Shriners, A.A.O.N.M.S., of Addison (then temporarily of Lombard) on 1 May 2004 at a ceremonial in Chicago. He served as secretary of the Medinah Marshals Unit and is the webmaster for West Suburban Shrine Club with whom he regularly parades throughout Chicagoland as a member of the Roaring ‘57s. After having ushered the exemplar candidates in each Assistant Marshal or as the ceremonial divan’s acting Second Ceremonial Master, on 19 January 2007, he was appointed Second Ceremonial Master. He is also frequently “dual-hatted” as a grip on the stage crew. On 20 June 2006, he and several other Medinah Shriner attorneys and judges became charter members of the resurrected Medinah Legal Committee.
