Personal Background:

Tracy W. Harris was born on November 28, 1970, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Val Gene Harris and Wanda Zoella Harris (née Harrison). He married Kristina L. Reeve on July 7, 1990, after meeting while serving in the California Conservation Corps (Bay Area Center) in 1989. Together they have two sons: Tanin M. Harris (b. 1992) and Kevin M. Harris (b. 1994). As a young man, Companion Harris worked for his father before moving to California in 1988, where he joined the CCC as part of an emergency response crew. He was certified in wildfire and flood response and served with Crew 3 in Richmond, California. His team cut fire lines for the State Forestry Department, planted trees, and assisted in the development of city parks. Following the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, he was assigned to emergency response and security operations in San Francisco’s Marina District. After marrying Kristina, he returned to Illinois and began his career with Olin Corporation’s Ordnance and Tactical Systems Division in Marion, Illinois.
